Michael Klauber

Hailing from Buffalo, NY, Michael Klauber is the esteemed co-proprietor of Michael’s On East, the renowned restaurant and catering company in Sarasota for 35 years. Michael’s formative years were spent at his family’s Colony Beach & Tennis Resort on Longboat Key. He pursued hospitality studies at Cornell University, initiating his career in the restaurant and beverage industry through a management program in New Orleans in 1976 at the Royal Sonesta Hotel, and later as manager and wine buyer at the fabled Arnaud’s Restaurant. Returning to Sarasota in 1980, Michael took the helm of the Colony’s food and beverage program, earning the prestigious Wine Spectator’s “Grand Award” in 1982. He was a trailblazer in wine preservation, introducing the innovative “Cruvinet” wine-by-the-glass system in 1981, and was the first in the US to offer Dom Perignon Champagne by the glass. His career flourished as a wine judge, international wine merchant, collector and enthusiast. He co-founded regional chapters of La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, Chevaliers du Tastevin, and Commanderie de Bordeaux, showcasing his passion for the culinary arts.


Philip Mancini

Born and raised in North Providence, Rhode Island, Philip grew up working in restaurants and catering operations from the age of 13. He attended Johnson & Wales University where he received his Associates in Culinary Arts as well as a Bachelors in Food Service Management. Phil participated in a management training program at the Colony Beach & Tennis Resort working with Michael in 1981, and ultimately relocated to Sarasota. Phil joined Michael as his business partner in 1993. Today, Phil manages every aspect of special event food and beverage service for more than 1,500 catering events annually, executing each detail for functions from two to 2,000 guests. Over his 40 years in the catering industry, Phil has been credited with helping to launch and develop dozens of signature events for area nonprofits and the community at-large.

Cloe Drapkin

Cloe is a seasoned hospitality professional with roots in the dynamic borough of Brooklyn, New York. With a distinguished career that kicked off in the heart of the Big Apple, Cloe refined her expertise as the Event Sales Manager at the renowned Charlie Palmer Group, setting the stage for a journey marked by excellence in the hospitality industry. Eager to expand her horizons, Cloe then ventured to the sun-kissed shores of Longboat Key, Florida, where she served as the Catering Sales Manager for the esteemed Longboat Key Club & Resort. Over an impressive nine-year tenure, Cloe orchestrated and curated unforgettable experiences for a myriad of social events. Cloe continued to make waves in the Sarasota hospitality scene, dedicating seven years to Michael’s Events & Catering, where under the tutelage of Philip Mancini, deepened her commitment to excellence and client satisfaction. Following a brief hiatus, Cloe has returned to Michael’s Events & Catering at The Ora with a renewed vision and a wealth of experience. With a dedication to innovation, personalized service, and a deep appreciation of culinary excellence, Cloe is poised to lend her expertise, ensuring that the dynamic collaboration between The Ora and Michael’s Events & Catering not only flourishes but attains monumental success.
